Boom or Bust is a community map app for finding garage sales, estate sales, thrift stores, and nearby shops. We operate the app and this website at getboomorbust.app. Contact: support@getboomorbust.app.
When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address and a unique identifier from that provider. We use this to create and maintain your account, associate your content with you, and let you sign in across devices.
The app asks for your location so it can:
Location is used on-device and sent to our servers only when you actively take an action that requires it (such as reporting a sale or fetching nearby results). We do not continuously track or store your location history.
When you report a sale, drop a pin, leave a Boom/Bust rating, or submit a flag, that content — along with associated metadata (approximate location, timestamp) — is stored on our servers and may be shown to other users.
We may collect basic information about app crashes, errors, and feature usage to diagnose problems and improve the app. This does not include personally identifying information beyond what is described above.
If you use the voice city search, your spoken input is processed by the device's speech recognition system. Audio is not stored by us.
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information:
Community content you submit (sale reports, ratings, flags) is visible to other users by design.
We retain your account and content for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You may request deletion at any time (see §7). Community content you submitted may remain in anonymised or aggregated form after account deletion.
The app is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you may have additional rights under GDPR or UK GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (TLS) and access controls on our backend. No system is completely secure; use the app at your own risk.
We may update this policy. Material changes will be noted with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
